IGS Websites

posted by admin

The IGS websites are easy to work, even for someone with little to no experience in website building, but here are some pointers.

  • Feel free to pick and choose a “theme” for your site from the range avaliable. You can find the link on the “dashboard” of your site as you edit it.
  • To edit posted pages/posts, go to “manage”.
  • My site is called “Whitmoregirl’s Wombles”. You can change your sites name by going to “settings” and changing the blog title to whatever you want. You can also add a tagline if you wish. HOWEVER! Do not edit the other settings; this will crash your site and anything you have done to it will be lost, as I found out not ten minutes after first logging into my website >_<
  • To post pictures, you will need to host the pictures on photobucket or a similar website. Once they have been uploaded to the site, copy the url eg http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u298/Whitmoregirl6/CT/DSC09473.jpg (the ‘direct link’ if you use photobucket), then go to “write”. You will see across the top of the box where you type, several boxes with things like b, i, link, b-quote, etc. Press img (if the yellow activation slip appears at the top of your screen, you need to allow popups), then paste in the URL, add a description of the picture, and you’re done!
  • “Pages” are the tabs at the top of my site. “Posts” appear on the front page of your site.
  • A “blogroll” is a list of websites. You can choose to make them visible or not, or to delete ones you don’t want, or add new ones. You can do this with the “blogroll” link when editing your site.

Feel free to ask on the IGS forum if you need any extra assistance.
