Well not quite, but close enough! There’s been quite a bit of discussion on the eGerbil forum about gerbil ‘agility’ courses (see the bottom of this post for a direct link to the thread) after I stumbled upon what became a seemingly endless list of youtube videos of gerbils jumping and following increasingly difficult courses!
The first video I spotted was this ..

Which in turn leads to many, many more!

Annnd of course after seeing these, the kid in me instantly (and scarily quickly too) found some toy jumps to play around with.
I spent some time pondering over my ‘steed’, and eventually decided on Ob, my insane black male, who has enough spunk and energy to light an entire city should he get into running on a wheel (god help us all should that happen, he’ll wear out a wheel a day).

Insano I, aka Ob

Anyways, my mount picked, I set up the track, and.. watched Ob wander off to the other side of the room.

Bums.

There’s more to this milarky than I thought.

After a quick chase around the room and under the bed, I recaptured a dusty looking Ob and tried again. He pushed the jump over, looked at me with a cheeky glint in his eye, annnnd ran off to play dustgerbie again.

Hm.

Maybe I didn’t pick the best of gerbils admittedly, as Ob does have a ten second attention span (he’s got ADHD I swear). If I still had my Rosie (spotted DEH female), I would probably be able to do this in ten minutes flat. I tried a few times, all resulting in the same demolition of the jumps I had set up, usually by nose although one when he tried to clamber onto one and looked surprised when it toppled under his weight- ‘You win again gravityyyyyyyy’, followed by a prompt poo at my feet and scurrying off.

So, in conclusion, damn you all. I will take over the world of gerbil agilty courses someday, somehow, just you wait and see.

Just not with Ob ¬_¬
