Just to follow up on my last post, Dookie has settled in well with the ladies and appears to have quite a soft spot for Buoy!

A big day!

Not for me, for me today was a day off work (although I feel more exhausted than when I am at work!). No, it was a big day for my ‘little’ axolotl, Dookie!
I spent a good part of 4/5 hours clearing the main tank, retying and clipping the plants and generally tidying. Because the filter on the axolotl tank is so good, I rarely have to do a thorough clean on the axolotl tank and typically do a small water change each weekend.
After my thorough clean I gave my axolotls (and the cat, and me) a bit of chicken each, which as an afterthought, wasn’t particularly the right order to do so in, but we all enjoyed it anyway.
Once the axolotls were full (and Milo was begging for more), I plopped Dookie into the big tank. And he promptly shot off into Boof, scaring the bejebas out of her. Not the best first move really..
Dookie is currently sitting in one corner, recovering from the ‘trauma’ (pansy) and Boof is hanging out in the plants (literally) above Buoy while she is oblivious to the newbie and sitting under the log ornament.
Should be interesting to see what happens once they decide to start moving about again!
Fish Stuff

Well my tank came and it took about a week to get it set up properly, the stand that is, there’s little to do with the tank but lift it out of the box .. which I couldn’t do. I tried to build it myself but sadly the lack of a power drill and the crummy instructions rather set me back, so I ended up waiting until the weekend for my dad to come along with his power drill – and even then, I had to wait until Monday for an extension cable to pop it inside the cabinet then drill the lid on and place the tank on top!
It’s been cycling for nearly 2 weeks now and doesn’t seem to be making much progress, but I’d rather wait it out than dunk the fish in it and hope it copes. I was tempted to pop Dookie in it though, he must produce more than enough ammonia etc to get it going and he should be able to handle extra gunk in the water!
On the gerbil front, not much has happened except Rudy suffered a stroke two nights ago and seems rather out of it and doddery, but he’s eating and drinking so fingers crossed he’ll recover. Oh and I will most likely be taking Tripp to be PTS on Monday as he’s got a headtilt and SGT and I don’t really want him to spiral the plughole and suffer.
Oh and I’m still getting those damn spam messages — give it up already twats, I’m not going to approve them, no matter how many times you post!
