New Arrivals

Posted by Nicki under Uncategorized

The three new rehome gerbils arrived yesterday. All had been well looked after and all three are quite friendly. The two nutmegs are called Blossom and Buttercup and the Pink Eyed White is called Bubbles.
The nutties are in together and bubbles is on her own at the moment as she had been fighting with the other two. Pics will be up in rehoming section shortly.

I think i may have to start from the beginning again with the buns. I think they have too much space too soon which can encourage bunnies who are being bonded to fight. I may have to bring them back inside into a small pen and gradually increase the space they are allowed to have. Here are some pics anyway that i had taken today when they were all getting on well

The little gerbil in Watford managed to get to me thanks to a lot of help from some lovely people on Sunday. He is a silver nutmeg boy and is just under a year old. He has settled in nicely and decided to show his gratitude by leaping on me and grabbing me in his little half paws (he only has little stumps for front paws) and sinking his teeth into the back of my hand. Not content with just giving me a good biting. He decided to hang on for dear life like a sort of gerbil type limpet with teeth. So hence the name. Thanks to Loz for that. She must have sensed the events to come. So this little man will need some handling in the form of my thick gerbil proof (dear lord i hope) gardening gloves. More on Damien aka psycho sid’s progress to come. He is a handsome chap though. Look at this. Butter wouldnt melt eh

The Bonding………….

Well Buddy Mallow and Sasha are now moved in to the shed/run in the pics below. They are getting on ok but Sasha has decided she is to be the boss and is doing a bit of nipping/chasing of the othe two. Its nothing severe however and i hope this will all stop once they get more used to each other. They all seem to be enjoying their new home! Pics to come tomorrow!

Need to get up-to-date

Posted by Nicki under Uncategorized

I really need to get up-to-date with this site. Ive been so busy the past few days. Picking up Sasha and Travis the gerbil. Then trying to bond secret and dapple, and also trying to bond sasha with buddy and mallow. Then starting back to work on Monday!! Been a hectic few days. Hopefully today i can get a bit of time to myself to get back on track and enthrall you with tales of my life and piccies too hopefully!

Well the lady with the gerbil DID get back to me.  Its full steam ahead trying to re-organise the gerbil run at such short notice.  People are being brilliant trying their best to help me out.  Some driving 1-2 hours each way to help out. Its lovely to know some people will help out like this ;)   Keep everything crossed for me that we can sort something out before D Day on Sunday

No gerbil :(

The gerbil run from watford wont go ahead.  I have tried and tried to get in contact with the lady to no avail. Shame as i was looking forward to the challenge of taming the beast!  Ah well cant do much more now.

Gordon is making a lovely job of the new bunny accommodation.  I cant wait to have Buddy and Mallow back and finally to meet Sasha :)   Little Dapple is starting to settle in.  I have given hiim lots of peace and quiet and time to adjust to his new home.  Will hopefully get him out later for a play and a photoshoot.

Speaking of photo’s – here are the shed/run progress shots

Spot the lovely arse pic there eh! Scuse the poor quality pics.  As usual the light was fading by the time i got the camera out.  Hey!  Thats my mug hes using!!!!!!  MY MUG.  Dont ever go there…………

The Wee Sh!*e

Posted by Nicki under Uncategorized

I just felt i had to share this experience today in which i lost all faith in humanity!!   We decided to go to Sainsbury’s to get something for our tea.  We pulled up alongside this battered white car with brown masking tape type stuff that seemed to be holding it together.  We had a little laugh about it then noticed a little boy of around 9 or 10 years old sitting in the back.  I got out of the car and caught his gaze so gave him a little smile.  The wee sh*t! put his fist up to the car window and slowly unravelled his middle finger and stuck it up to the window at me!  LMAO.  I couldnt believe it.  I was just about to say some choice words and do it back to him but managed to stop myself in time – telling myself to remember who the child was in this scenario.  The moral of the story??  NEVER laugh at someones masking taped together car or feel the wrath of the middle finger
